Manuel Antonio National Park
More than 25% of Costa Rica's land is now protected as national parks, reserves and recreation areas. The big draw for many people to the Quepos area is Manuel Antonio National Park. Established in 1972, it is located four miles south of the port town of Quepos. Manuel Antonio National Park covers 1700 acres and is Costa Rica's most internationally reknown wild life reserve and beach area. Its startling rain forests are home to an astounding array of endangered species such as the squirrel monkey, three-toed sloth, purple-and-orange crabs and hundreds of other birds, mammals and plants. Its spectacular three long sandy beaches are among the most beautiful found anywhere....many world travelers will attest to the fact that they are the finest beaches they have ever seen.
